GET TRAINED
The TPAT elective program was designed by Toyota Motor Sales USAInc., and UTI using only
Toyota specific curriculum. The three phase program will be offered at the UTI Glendale Heights, IL campus.

The computer based, classroom, and lab training will include:
Toyota 1 (TPAT 001)
4.0 Credit Hours, 90 Clock Hours
You will learn the Toyota culture, Toyota Traditions and recognize Toyota products. You will
perform customer service using recommended methods. You will use Toyota wiring diagrams and
electrical diagnostic tools to perform diagnosis on various electrical circuit problems such
as open and short circuits, circuit resistance and feedback problems.
Toyota 2 (TPAT 002)
4.0 Credit Hours, 90 Clock Hours
You will perform tire and wheel service, inspect suspension components, diagnose power
steering problems, diagnose handling problems and perform different types of alignment
methods. You will learn different brake systems components and hydraulic circuits. You
will learn ABS and traction control systems with diagnosis of these systems. You will
learn manual transmission, clutch and transfercase components and diagnose faulty
components using the proper tools and procedures.
Toyota 3 (TPAT 003)
4.0 Credit Hours, 90 Clock Hours
You will learn the components of an automatic transmission, the operation and power flow.
You will diagnose component failure and perform replacement procedures. You will learn
proper safety procedures; diagnose climate control systems using the proper tools and
use diagnostic tools for diagnosis. You will diagnose engine control systems, and recover
DTC's (Diagnostic Trouble Codes) using the proper tools. You will inspect fuel system
components, and diagnose the fuel system using the proper safety procedures. And your
you will be trained on theory and service procedures for Toyota's
revolutionary Hybrid (Gas / Electric) technology.
GET SUCCESS
TPAT graduates will have access to a targeted 305 Toyota or Lexus dealers in a 14 state area
surrounding the Glendale Heights campus. Additionally, UTI can assist you finding employment at
any one of the over 1,400 Toyota or Lexus dealerships throughout the country.
TPAT graduates must meet Toyota's pre-employment drug screen and driving record requirements to
be considered for employment and participation in the Externship program.
GET CERTIFIED
Toyota promotes and maintains an industry leading technician certification program. TPAT graduates
will be eligible to receive certification by Toyota Motor Sales, USA Inc after successfully completing
the following:
- TPAT coursework with a post-test score of 80% or higher
- Pass two (2) ASE exams (except A-1 Engine Repair)
- Eight (8) week paid externship (within one year of graduation) at a Toyota or Lexus dealership
- Successfully complete a skills evaluation at the end of the externship
